However, with the release of yet another massive chunk of content as well as a new league where you can create your own big baddies to defeat in order to gain access to massive swaths of loot, now is an excellent time to get involved in the action. If you want to play POE Curreny completely solo, with a friend network to share loot with, or in groups to earn bigger and better rewards, you'll have a fantastic time. Having said that, getting started in Path of Exile can seem like an extremely intimidating prospect, especially given the game's massive passive skill tree, ascendancy options, and map-centric endgame atlas to navigate. We'll get started right away, because while the systems can be complex, getting into them does not have to be difficult.
1) Install a loot filter on your computer.
Path of Exile is a treasure trove of items, especially as you progress through the game and begin to complete endgame map content. Without a filter, you'll find yourself spending a significant amount of time searching through endless trash - and I mean that in the most literal sense. Screen after screen of garbage that will bury anything of interest under a wave of garbage to the point where you won't even be able to find the good stuff amongst all of the garbage. So the first thing you should do is purchase a loot filter, which is fairly simple to do. The core version of Filterblades is my go-to solution for quick and painless installation; simply drop it into your folder and select it from your UI options. This item can be obtained from this page, and you can rest assured that you will not be required to search through hundreds of drops on a single screen.
2) Create a character plan before you begin.
I understand how frustrating it is to have to commit to a build before you have even started playing. While respeccing in Path of Exile is possible, it is time-consuming and expensive in terms of resources, so you'll want to save your orbs of regret for fine-tuning rather than a complete overhaul. However, there's nothing worse than reaching the endgame and realizing that your build isn't quite up to par, only to have to spend the next few days rerolling a new character from the beginning. The use of a guide isn't required, but it is recommended, and there are some excellent ones available on the Path of Exile forums, on Reddit, and other places. If you want to create your own path, picking a few skills or broad stroke archetypes, such as a necromancer or an elementalist, can be effective. Don't forget to pay attention to health/energy shield and sustainability points as you progress through the levels. When it comes to this, path of exile currency items can be a little deceiving, as you can plow through the base game and its Act structure fairly easily only to find yourself one-shot in the endgame atlas due to a low health pool, insufficient resists, or other defenses. So, despite the temptation to turn into a massive damage machine at the expense of all defensive stats, resist the urge. You'll be the one who has to pay the price later!
3) Purchase a few specific (but necessary) stash tabs.
It goes without saying that Path of Exile is a game about looting - and we're going to need somewhere to keep it all organized! Path of Exile is a free-to-play game, to be precise. And it's probably one of the best models available for it, relying primarily on cosmetic items and providing players with complete access to all content for free. To be honest, at this point in the game, I believe that two of the optional purchase stash tabs are absolutely necessary if you want to have a good time. The first and most important tab to open is the currency tab. This tab will store and organize pretty much everything relevant you come across on your journey, and in my opinion, the game isn't playable without it - you'll have far too much clutter to be able to function without it. I also believe that a map stash tab is essential for organizing your extensive map collection, but this one is a little more debatable in my opinion.
4) Keep in mind that ascendancy is important.
Ascendancy points are similar to passive points, but they are often much more powerful, and they are allocated to special trees that aid in the development of your character's personality. While you're destroying your way through the game's acts, it's easy to lose sight of the fact that the Labyrinth is present. Labyrinth and ascendancy points are the equivalent of eating your vegetables before dessert at this point in PoE's life. As you progress through the game, keep an eye out for trials that are filled with traps that will appear in various locations. You must complete these tasks, no matter how tempting it may be to skip them, if you want access to the different tiers of Labyrinth that grant you access to these extremely valuable ascendancy points. For those having difficulty in the Labyrinth, outleveling and outgearing the first few tiers is relatively simple, especially if you can find some % life regen.
5) Don't get too worked up and just go have fun!
It's easy to become paralyzed before you even begin playing, worrying about whether or not your build will be perfect and devoting far too much time to debating where each and every point should be placed on the passive tree. Don't be concerned about it! Take part in the Metamorph league, and have a good time! -In this league, you will collect brains, lungs, hearts, and other monster organs in order to build your own bosses and reap massive rewards - you will be flooded with maps, rare loot, and various currencies once you have completed the league. Going through the acts provides a taste of this system, but once you start doing maps, you can collect boss-specific organs and create even bigger beasties with incredible payoffs. It's possible that you'll make a few mistakes here and there! It's all right! It's possible that as you become more comfortable with the game, you'll be tempted to try some of the other modes, such as hardcore (where if you die, the game is over!) or solo-self found (where you won't be able to rely on other players for your gear - instead, only items you find or craft yourself will be available!). Path of Exile has a lot to offer, and each league introduces new twists and turns - so get out there and create some monsters!
