They eventually connected with Gateway Counseling Center, which provides services for people with intellectual disabilities through their day programs. It’s not just about care; it’s about giving people meaningful activities, building social connections, and respecting their pace. Within a few months, he started attending regularly, got involved in art therapy, and even started helping in group activities. The family said it changed the whole atmosphere at home for the better.  less
