I'll preface this by stating I do not think that

  • Same could happen if it was Epic or Activision. In case CDPR, Valve or any other cherished company did exactly the same, remarks would be wholly different. Edit: Sony did exactly the exact same and the general reception on those remarks are largely positive. Stay refreshing, Reddit. I don't think so. If their primary customer base is African American is doesn't make sense to sell to them right now. As they won't be spending right now, as games is not on there heads at this time. Not about respect imo. More or less they're not moving to the stores immediately to make purchases. Now with use of advertising they could use this as a show of solidarity with this marketplace. Perhaps this is the cynical part of me. A wonderful gesture, but are not these the same men and women who censored Colin Kaepernick's name out of a Mut 21 coins song in one of the previous Madden games?

I'll preface this by stating I do not think that it's a terrible thing for them to bring awareness to the issue. It's important that it can't just be ignored by looking away from it. With that said, I do possess a certain amount of distrust towards multi-billion dollar multinational corporations paying lip service to important social problems. They are in the best possible position to do more than just put out a press release or public announcement. Obviously, as a capitalist business they are under no duty to do so, and yet it rings hollow when they try to stand in solidarity with the common people. Now there are companies out there that are doing things and this is the opportunity to emphasize those attempts; to show they're more than just words.

I would normally agree in the case of paying lip service to social problems without also placing money and support to advocate for change or applying it to the organization and their job in the very least. That said police brutality is not just something that a company like EA throwing money at the issue does much towards fixing. At best they put money towards the attorneys and groups that struggle to see justice after the truth or lobby to get laws changed that at the current government won't. It's systemic issues within police of not reporting their particular and holding them accountable rather staying silent and with the authorities unions which allow it all to occur or in ways even encourage it by the consequences being a slap on the wrist followed by being hired in another precinct showing them there is no consequences. Before even getting to laws and rulings such as qualified immunity which shield abusive cops and permit them to abuse their power . The vast majority of which EA and most capitalist companies are not able to perform so much about making it unfair to say they're in the best possible position to do more.

Those in the best possible place to do more would be the supposed good cops by no more remaining quiet and enabling bad cops to eliminate their misuse of power or voting to get better direction for their marriages which won't enable the behaviour. However, of course it is just words. Because following decades of corporations doing things for the wrong reason, people are very cynical. Even if all corporations stopped doing things wrong, it'll take a long, long time for that image of corporate America to lose its tarnish. Part of what we might do is pick politicians who promise they'll hold these corporations accountable. It probably won't happen alone. This would be much easier if someone like that could run for cheap Madden nfl 21 coins office .
