Rice Cooker Accessories from Custom Rice Cookers Manufacturers
Many rice cookers come with accessories. Rice paddles, steamer and measuring cup are standard.

    Rice Paddle
Some cooking recipes will require you to fluff the rice with a fork. Using a fork in a rice cooker is not ideal, as many inner pots have a non-stick coating. The rice paddle provided is designed to fluff the rice properly without scratching the non-stick coating of the inner pot. There are other paddles made of wood or silicone. It's all based on preference. Some paddles are designed with beads, and they also help keep the rice from sticking together when you scoop it out of the inner pot. If there are no beads on the paddle, lightly moisten the paddle before fluffing the rice to prevent some of the rice from sticking together. Some rice cookers have an extra attachment that can attach the paddle to the countertop or attach it to the machine so it doesn't stain your countertop.

    rice measuring cup
The rice measuring cup that comes with the rice cooker is probably the most confusing item of accessories, because when you read "put 1 cup of uncooked rice in the inner pot" it usually means using the included measuring cup leveling spoon. The supplied measuring cup is actually a 3/4 cup standard measurement, so using the supplied measuring cup or 1 scoop of a 3/4 cup standard measurement equals "waterline 1" on the inner pot for best results. If you use standard measurements, the waterline does not apply to the ratio. If you use a 1 cup standard measurement, the water on the inner pot up to row 1 will yield dry rice.

    Steamer Basket

You can use a rice cooker for things other than rice. All the rice cookers we tested included a steamer that you can use to cook. Most manuals contain recipes for steamed side dishes that you can cook with rice. It can be considered a "one pot meal". My favorite way to use a rice cooker is to put some rice and some frozen dumplings on the steamer and cook some Chinese sausages (as a side dish). While the rice cooker is in heat mode, sauté some veggies for a quick meal for one or two people. One caveat: If you are cooking more than 3 cups of raw rice, you should not use a steamer because once the rice is cooked, the top of the rice will stick to the bottom of the basket, or even worse, affecting how the rice cooks.
